I met with David and Jade at a little coffee shop called “Yours Truly” in their home town of Cape Town, South Africa. We clicked and a short time afterwards all flew out to Zanzibar for their beach wedding at Balladin Beach Hotel. At the time it was the only hotel on the island with their own beer on tap which completely sold it for this lager-loving couple. Jade got ready at another favourite of mine, the intimate Matlai Boutique Hotel, before hopping onto a small Ngalawa (local fishing boat) with her bridesmaids to make the short trip down the coast to Balladin. A beautiful ceremony was conducted in the front of a big wooden dhow (traditional sailing boat) that was propped up on the beach, and the reception followed in the hotel’s restaurant.
